Educational, fun filled, action packed
Let Us Take The Pressure Off You
Let us take the pressure off you trying to juggle looking after your child and working during the holiday. We guarantee that your child will have as much fun as possible in a nurturing and safe environment. Everyday there will be a variety of activities that your child would love to take part in.
Not Just Your Standard Holiday Club
Footsteps 4 Life will offer a structured program of activities throughout the school holidays with aim to expose the children to challenges that will develop and enhance new and current skills.
The carefully selected activities have been taken from the four categories of the “Teaching Games for Understanding Model.” This will give the children a wide variety of opportunities to learn and improve areas within a sport such as, cognitive skills like tactics, decision making and problem solving. This model allows the children to gain confidence in participating in a variety of sports. The four categories also create a balance of transferable skills that can be used in sports and also more importantly everyday life.
The four categorize are: invasion games, striking and fielding, net and wall and target games. Examples of some of these sports include, football, tag rugby, tennis, rounders and athletics.
Teaching Games for Understanding is a child led model where the teacher/instructor acts as a facilitator and the children are able to make their own adaptations in order to increase the level of challenge and fun. The following steps are elements of a Teaching Games for Understanding approach:
Activity Appreciation: trying out a version of the activity in a small group
Tactical Awareness: developing understanding of common elements of games and tactics that can be used to succeed.
Decision Making: learning and practicing making the key decisions when faced with different scenarios.
Application of Skills: identify and practice key skills to improve play.
Performance: Applying everything learned through the stages before to implement them effectively in game situations.
As well as the physical activity aspect to our Holiday Club, we will also be offering other activities such as arts and crafts, laptop time, board games, a homework and reading station and areas to relax and unwind. There will be something for every child.
*Please note, children will need to bring a packed lunch with them. However, water will be provided.
